Will the next Jenson Button come from Sandfield School? They were certainly inspired by the arrival of two McLaren supercars in their playground last Thursday.
Of course, it helps to have friends, or in this case Dads, in the right places and two of the Sandfield children have fathers that work at the world famous McLaren factory in Woking.
The two Dads are: Claudio Santoni, the Function Group Manager Body at McLaren Automotive and Paolo Masoni, who is the Lead CFD Aerodynamicist.
They both live in Guildford and have children at their local Sandfield Primary School. Claudio has two boys there and Paolo a little girl. As their names indicate they are both Dads are Italian but have been with McLaren in Woking for several years now.
The cars they brought were a MP4-12C and MP4-12C Spider. (More details can be found on Mclaren’s newly launched global website: http://cars.mclaren.com/home.
The children were understandably excited and impressed. Head teacher Gary Postlethwaite said: “They were still talking about the cars on their way out of school in the afternoon.
“Our curriculum theme this term has a technological focus, so staff will have a great opportunity to relate and build on the excitement created by the cars.”
