At the Home Countries Veterans Table Tennis Championships in the Isle of Man, Surrey’s Tony Needham won gold for Wales in the over 70s doubles partnering Paul Collins.
In the over 70s team event Tony won silver alongside Paul Collins and Dennis Bromage. The over 70s singles saw Tony win silver. Overall an amazing performance.
Another wonderful day was had in aid of Ukrainian refugees at Graham Spicer Institute TT Club in New Malden on Saturday, September 24, which raised £1,500.
Thanks goes to all the entrants and people who donated. Bribar, well know table tennis equipment suppliers, donated some of the prizes and ttheart.co.uk donated all the food on the day.
Jarek Chrzanowski won the tournament with Burymead’s (Guildford) Tim Waller runner-up. In the semi-finals Jarek beat Eugeni Genchev and Tim Waller beat Tony Needham.
Special thanks to Pawel Meryn for organising the event, Kumiko Williams for running the tournament, many other helpers and the Graham Spicer Institute for providing the venue.
Former Surrey player Danielle Kelly is moving full time to play professionally for Eslov in Sweden after the club approached her following a successful training camp in July.
Sunday, September 18, saw Surrey Under 19 Boys competed for places in the county teams. There were lots of competitive matches with the final order being:

Junior county matches are to be held on:
November 19 and 20 – Junior second team First Division at St Neots TTC, Cambridgeshire.
December 17 and 18 – Junior first team Premier Division at Wood Green TTC, Wednesbury.
