Suspicious Package Causes Railway Station Evacuation

Frustrated passengers waiting for the station to reopen.

Guildford railway station was closed this afternoon after the discovery of a suspicious package.

About 200 frustrated passengers remained calm while they waited outside the entrance while police dealt with the incident.

Police and SWR officials were on hand to control the incident and answer questions.

British Transport Police told The Dragon ” We were called to Guildford railway station at around 3.16am today (4 December) following reports of a suspicious package.

“Officers attended and the station was evacuated as a precaution. The item was confirmed to be non-suspicious and the station was reopened [at 4.15pm].”
