Teachers at Sandfield Primary School in Guildford have created a virtual Advent calendar, on which pupils and their families have been opening a new window each day where a video surprise awaits.
These include staff serenading children dressed as Christmas elves to pupils telling Christmas jokes and performing carols.
Head teacher Kate Collins said: “Seeing our pupils and staff embrace technology has been the real gift of this year. It has brought connection and shared experience, something we need now more than ever.
“I hope our Advent calendar will continue to entertain in the run-up to Christmas and families can enjoy the simple acts of togetherness this festive season.”
The school also launched a new website in October, which in November attracted 13,000 hits. It features a virtual tour starring its Year 6 ambassadors and council members from across the school.
