When The Mandolay, Guildford’s largest hotel and events venue reopens its doors next month, visitors will be able to enjoy an experience like no other in the area.

Considerable investments have included a new operating system, redecoration and refurbishment of public areas, the official opening of eight new coach-house style bedrooms, bespoke outdoor wedding garden, a brand new App, extended food and drink options and new contactless secure entry on all bedroom doors, they even found time to paint the entire London Road façade, showing off the Edwardian splendour in all its glory.

Planning permission has already been granted for 22 further bedrooms, taking the total to 100.

Hotel Managing Director Matthew Milliken explains why, and why now.

‘The closure gave us the perfect opportunity to undertake building and refurbishment works throughout the hotel, and while the introduction of a new operating system does not sound that exciting, it really is. The system will allow guests to check in and out remotely, order food and drink, make online reservations and book services via our App, gain entry to their bedrooms using their mobile devices and freely access the hotels 1Gb wireless system. We have also created wi-fi and Bluetooth enhanced conference rooms to enable remote and hybrid meetings.

“No other hotel or venue in the area has the same capability and we see it as a key part of our all-new offering.

“The new bedrooms, improved wedding and event spaces, our associations with premium brands and commitment to quality have helped us achieve the prestigious Johanssens ‘Conference Venue of the Year Award’, which along with our improved AA 4 Silver Star accreditation makes us by some distance, the most accredited hotel in the area.”

The Mandolay has invested heavily in new wedding and event spaces.

But the great news does not stop there, as Matthew again explains. “We are looking to employ 20 new team members to help us achieve our aims, the financial investment of around £250,000 in the past 6 months would mean little without great people to deliver our service.”

The ‘New’ Mandolay Hotel will reopen in accordance with Government guidelines, and as Matthew says: ‘The future is bright, Guildford is a wonderful place and we hope to be a credit to the town.”
