Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy reports that it is delighted to have been chosen as the lead charity partner by The RunThrough Foundation, organisers of its Guildford 10k run.

The run takes place on closed roads in and around Guildford on Sunday, October 18, with up to 1,000 participants expected across the 10k, 5k and junior 2k distances.

It adds that is a “great opportunity for us to raise our profile and gain funds”.

The Guildford 10k run, hosted by race organisers RunThrough takes place on Sunday, October 18.

The chaplaincy, a charity established by Guildford churches, operates three projects supporting people who live in, work in, or visit Guildford. These are its Community Angels, Volunteer Chaplains and Street Angels, costing a combined £120,000 each year to fund.

Funding comes through donations from local churches, businesses and individuals, as well as grants and fundraising events like the 10k run.

The chaplaincy said: “We’re delighted to have 40 runners raising at least £250 each, including teams from local businesses such as McDonald’s and Chantries & Pewleys estate agents.

“Guildford Baptist Church has given a generous donation to cover paid places and T-shirts to enable us to put all money raised straight into our project. We’re hoping to raise around £20,000.”

The chaplaincy welcomes additional runners who would like to raise sponsorship.

As a thank you, the charity is offering free race places (usually £38, £32 and £12 depending on distance) to anyone who can raise a minimum of £250. Interested runners can sign up here.
