Two Fatal Road Accidents On Local Roads In Past 24 Hours

Two men, one in his 60s the other in his 70s, have died on local roads over the past 24 hours.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal single vehicle collision on the A31 Hog’s Back today (December 25).

The collision took place on the east bound carriageway and involved a black Ford Fiesta which left the road and hit a tree just after 6.30am.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene by South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics. The passenger, a woman in her 50s, has been taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

It is not believed that any other vehicle was involved.

The road was closed on the east bound carriageway from the A31 slip road to the Ash slip road. Specialist investigators out an examination of the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “Any witnesses who have not already spoken to officers are urged to contact Surrey Police.”

Yesterday a pedestrian in his 70s died after being struck by a car on the A320 Guildford Road.

The collision took place at around 9.45am near the Sutton Green Garden Centre and involved a blue Renault Clio.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
