Volunteer Mentors Needed for Schools in Guildford and Ash

MCR Pathways, a UK-based charity, is seeking volunteer mentors over the age of 21, to work in schools to make a life-changing difference to a disadvantaged young person.

It supports vulnerable young people in the care system, those who have previously been in the system, or those who have other hardships in their lives to realise their full potential.

It achieves this by providing mentoring in schools during term time to help these young vulnerable students to reach their full potential in school and life despite their difficult circumstances. So they are defined by their talent and not their circumstances.

The young person has a mentor who cares about them, supports them, and champions their cause to help them realise their potential and talent. Through this the mentor develops their empathy and listening skills. Together it can truly change a life!

No specific experience or skills are required, just the ability to be there for the young person, to listen and to care.

MCR asks its mentors to volunteer for a minimum of a year, spending one hour a week in their chosen school during term time.

Mentors are needed at schools in Guildford and Ash.

MCR will need to conduct a DBS check at no cost to you, as well as get the details of two character references.

Training including safeguarding information is provided to all our mentors before they are matched with a young person.

Apply via Voluntary Action South West Surrey’s website.

Or see MCR Pathways website.
