“No one should have to run a business alone”, says Allen Ruddock, the owner of The Guildford Business Hub, a support group that meets at the Guildford Harbour Hotel every Monday morning.

Alan added: “It’s a super start to the week – and business clinics with experts on topics that might not come naturally to a small business owner such as accounting and sales.

“We have a range of members who share their business expertise in a community environment. They range from artisans to long-standing business people. One member has been in business for 30 years, a ‘solopreneur’ who comes along to the hub to share his experience in the spirit of collaboration and mutual growth.”

Kick-starting the year – January’s Hub on purpose, vision and values.

In another example of the hub helping grow the wider business community, Allen said he is “delighted to welcome an intern from a local business so as to provide that person with valuable insights and training in the business world”.

He said the key to good business is looking after people. “Guildford is full of talented people who start their business but need the right support and encouragement to reach their potential.

“This can take the form of a supportive chat or some simple business systems that will give them a solid foundation. By combining people with business processes and some basic knowledge sharing the hub looks to inspire and support people on their business journey.”

A heart-warming example can be found in Guildford business woman Gemma Cockrell. She said: “I can say, hand on heart, that my business wouldn’t be where it is today without the hub.

“Every week it provides me with invaluable insights into the business world and has helped me grow into an award-winning entrepreneur. It’s special to be part of such a supportive group of individuals that are happy to share their expertise and knowledge.”

A first visit is free and more details can be found on The Guildford Business Hub’s website.
