Will You Sleep Rough So Others Don’t Have To?

YMCA Guildford, part of YMCA DownsLink Group, is looking for local heroes to sleep out under the stars on Friday, March 18, and raise vital funds for its work with disadvantaged young people.

Will you take up the YMCA's Sleep Easy Sleep Out challenge?

Will you take up the YMCA’s Sleep Easy Sleepout challenge?

Could you give up your warm bed for one night under cardboard?

It won’t be warm or comfortable, but the Sleep Easy Sleepout has raised thousands of pounds for YMCAs nationally and this is an opportunity to do something remarkable for the community.

Although Guildford is a prosperous town there are many young people who, for a range of reasons, find they can no longer remain living at home.

Last year across West Surrey, East and West Sussex YMCA DownsLink Group housed around 550 young people who would otherwise have been homeless.

The YMCA works hard to help these young people rebuild their lives, but funding is a constant challenge. The Sleep Easy event can raise significant funds to help.

Pete Brayne, former CEO of YMCA Guildford and Sleep Easy veteran says: “A single night outside cannot compare with being homeless, but lying awake under the stars at 2am is surprisingly impactful.

“If you have never done this before I strongly recommend giving it a go. You only live once and you will help raise thousands of pounds in support of the YMCA’s fantastic work with homeless young people.”

If you would like to sleep out and raise sponsorship (aiming for £100 minimum please), visit www.ymcadlg.org/sleep-easy-2016 to complete an entry form.
