A woman in her 20s died on the A31 Hog’s Back at Guildford on Tuesday afternoon (June 17) after a collision with a truck.
Police were called out shortly before 1.55pm following the report of the collision involving a pedestrian.
The pedestrian died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
Surrey Police are making a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following the incident, which is being treated as a “death following police contact”.
A police statement said: “This is due to a report of a woman in the carriageway which was received in the minutes prior to the collision.”
The A31 eastbound carriageway was closed between Puttenham and Farnham Road for several hours to allow police to carry out initial enquiries.
Surrey police said: “Our enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
They want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident.
Police said: “If you have any information that might assist our investigation, please get in touch quoting PR/45250072844.”
