Guildford’s entry for the 2026 calendar: A touch of summer colour brightens up an otherwise sterile scene

By David Reading

If you’re planning to buy a 2026 calendar, forget pictures of fluffy kittens, quaint English villages or Hollywood icons – why not go for images of self-storage units?

Yes, you read that correctly. Self-storage units.

The people behind the idea describe it as “possibly the most boring calendar ever”. But that’s part of the quirky good humour displayed within its 12 pages, illustrating storage units from around the UK including Guildford.

There’s a serious side to all this – the aim is to raise £10,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Purchasers of the charity calendar will have to wait until July to be able to display Guildford’s entry, which shows a giant inflatable pink flamingo resting incongruously within a metallic corridor.

“The Themed Storage Unit Calendar is a gift like no other,” says the blurb from Access Self Storage, the company behind the fund-raiser.

The firm’s Guildford team beat competition from other stores to make it into the final version.

The company adds: “Our collection of pictures transforms the everyday world of self-storage into a curated monthly celebration of charm, creativity and character.”

Priced at £5, the calendar can be bought at any of Access Self Storage’s 57 locations across the UK or online at www.accessstorage.com.

Access Self Storage, which has a depot at 19 Moorfield Road, Guildford GU1 1RU, is a UK-based company providing secure self-storage units, as well as office space, parking, and packing materials.
