SOUP, the initiative that brings communities together and acts as a fundraiser on a local basis, is coming to Bellfields.
The event is being held at St Peter’s Church in Hazel Avenue on Sunday, May 8, from 5pm to 7.30pm. All ages are welcome to go along and hear four groups each making a four-minute pitch for funding.
They are Tea & Memories, which is looking for funding to provide tea parties for older and isolated people; the Walking for Health project; Matrix Trust; and the Lifetrain project that takes a bus with things to do and information for young people to them in their communities.
The cost of attending is discretionary and donations on the door will be paid to the group whose project gets the most votes on the night.
People are also asked to take food, soup, bread, etc, to share with others, but again this is discretionary.
There will be entertainment and live music during the evening and plenty of time for people to get together and have a chat.
The event is being organised by the Joining In! project that supports community involvement in Stoke and Westborough wards. It is also supported by creative arts and community hub the Boileroom.
If you would like to know more and perhaps help to volunteer to make some soup, call Helen Linnell on 07468 690834.
