Carols On The Green Promises Cheer And Goodwill For All Ages

A seasonal community event, Carols on the Green, takes place in Stoughton on Friday evening, December 14, and promises to be an evening of cheer and goodwill for all ages.

The venue is the park at the junction of Manor, Grange and Stoughton Roads. Last year 300 people attended, and there’s plenty of room for more this year!

Hoping to get as many people as possible from the local community involved, there will be a lantern procession from Queen Elizabeth Park at 6.30pm. It will make its way down Grange Road to the green. All are welcome to join in, meet in Railton Road.

The carol singing starts at 7pm, accompanied by a band from Emmanuel Church. Expect your favourite hymns with some modern Christmas pop classics too.

Song sheets will be provided, but make sure you take a torch.

There will also be a dance routine performed by children from Deogloria, based at Emmanuel Church, and a carol sung by members of the 3rd and 5th Stoughton brownie packs.

There will be a large Christmas tree in the park, Santa will be paying a visit and there’s a raffle with plenty of prizes.

Afterwards, everyone is invited for free refreshments inside Stoughton Methodist Church, that’s opposite the green.

A committee made up of community groups, agencies and residents have been planning the event, led by community stalwart Jan Cook.
