A Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year to All Our Readers

We wish you a happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous new year.

There seems to be more Christmas lights than ever this year. Santa and his many sleighs feature strongly around Guildford but there are also dinosaurs, a good smattering of stars and of course reindeer, and not forgetting churches too.

We have been out photographing just a few of the magnificent efforts around the borough.

Thanks go to Bryony Rose for the photo of St Martha’s Church near Chilworth, and to Geoff Burch who took the photo of the Christmas lights in the trees at Perry Hill, Worplesdon, with vehicle headlight and taillight trails.

For the best effect, click on the photos to enlarge them in a new window.

St Martha’s Church near Chilworth has been floodlit for Christmas for many years and looks as beautiful as ever on a cold winter’s night.

Father Christmas going in through the front door rather than the chimney in Fairlands. He did a tour of Fairlands, Liddington Hall New Road and Drive, and Gravetts Lane on Sunday, December 19, delighting young and old.

The people at this bungalow in Trodds Lane, Merrow always put on a great display.

And they are raising funds for the charity Dreamflight.
