Guildford’s Holiday Inn and Spirit health club celebrated its 30th anniversary in style with an afternoon tea party.

The hosts for the afternoon on April 17 were the hotel’s general manager Ben Bridgeman and health club manager, Hayley Bollons.
Also present were members of the club from its opening year in 1987, and who are still regular users of the facilities, some Holiday Inn staff who have worked for the hotel for the best part of those years, and new Mayor of Guildford, Nigel Manning.
Hayley said: “We also held a quiz for the members of Spirit health club with an array of members attending to test there brains and enjoy a fun-filled evening.
“Throughout the day all guests were able to enjoy some amazing ’30th’ cupcakes.”
The hotel was originally a Posthouse, owned by Sir Rocco Forte, and opened in May 1987. Sir Rocco Forte lived locally and was always visiting, therefore the hotel was decorated to a very high standard.

In 1999 the hotel underwent a huge extension and added 48 bedrooms and the Academy Conference centre. The health club also added a gym and studio.
The hotel rebranded in June 2001 from a Posthouse to a Holiday Inn.
