Do you work for a company that is looking for activities and days out as team-building exercises?
Is your company hoping to promote employee volunteering? Then look no further than your local volunteer centre to help arrange a Team Challenge or advise you on volunteering opportunities.
The Volunteer Centres in Guildford and Waverley boroughs have recently launched a new scheme to match local businesses with charities and community groups looking for extra help.
Volunteer Development Manager Jess Hogan-Smith is very excited to be launching the scheme. She said: “We are very lucky in Guildford and Waverley to have a thriving community sector that is keen to welcome businesses with one day Team Challenges or to form longer term partnerships.
“We have already arranged a whole host of exciting Team Challenges for local businesses who have built ramps for a local horse sanctuary, hosted Christmas parties for a local disability charity, cleared local community spaces and even helped set up a fete.”
Jess adds that the benefits to local charities can be enormous, but there are huge benefits to local businesses as well.
A Team Challenge is a relatively low-cost team building exercise and can create a sense of achievement that out performs a few hours orienteering any day. Also the potential for forming longer term relationships with local community groups and charities is vast and could result in a very successful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for even small local businesses.
