From Derek Payne
One of the organisers of a residents survey of views on the London Road Active Travel proposals
In response to various comments on a survey I helped organise to gauge views on the London Road proposals, it was a group of representatives from local residents associations who funded the local survey’s, printing, website and delivery. No council funds were used.
And to answer Ms Moore (see We Need to Stop Shouting and Start Listening), and to repeat, the full survey results and raw data have been made available to SCC for verification, as email addresses and postcodes were provided. We’ve said that we will help them to verify the results in full.
To date, SCC has chosen not to verify, or to publish verification results, as they know it is not in the interests of certain agendas.
The results showed 1,241 responses, with 87 per cent against the Scheme, 11 per cent in favour and 96 per cent of postcodes from the GU1 or GU4 postcode areas.
We asked the “go/no go” question SCC refused to ask this in their survey (challenged in STRG Meetings), which leaves it open to “interpretation” whichever way you prefer to see responses to questions like “do you support cycling and walking”.
To remind readers, the critical Modelling Report, which stated an increase of 30 per cent congestion in the area (thereby increasing pollution) entered the Consultation arena five weeks after the voting began!
So, notwithstanding the personal insults aimed at residents by lobby groups (either redacted from meeting videos, or not minuted despite requests to do so), and regardless of which side of the fence you sit on, I despair for our democratic process, and the desire for honesty and integrity in Surrey.
Just far too much politicking and too many individual agendas.
