Saturday April 25, saw 20 players from the Castle Green Bowling Club take part in a club drive to get the outdoor bowling season under way.

Though it was a cool evening, with a cold breeze and occasional small rain showers, everyone had fun and we retired early for hot tea, cakes and biscuits.

Brian West (skip), David Taylor and Tim Sampson won the competition and gained a bunch of fresh rhubarb supplied by Jill Bird.

Our first friendly game took place at home on Sunday April 26, and led to a convincing win over Ewhurst by 59-31.

The weather was cool and overcast, but at least it didn’t rain. Good fun was had by all. The winning rink was Jill Bird, Colin Summerhayes and Hazel Tappenden (24-10), followed by Rob Williams, Viv Smith and Terry Smith (19-6) and by Brian West, Paul Plummer and Diana Summerhayes (16-15). Hilary Vogel and Fran Webster provided a delicious tea.
