The seven days to March 25th was a record week for vaccinations in the Surrey Heartlands NHS area, nearly 70,000 first doses were administered and nearly 7,000 second doses.
54% of the over 16 population has now been vaccinated.
Warnings of more supply irregularities have been given so the high rates might not be sustainable and the much-applauded operation will be switching to giving more second doses. They will be administered between 10 and 12 weeks of the first.
Infection rates have dipped slightly in Guildford and Surrey and are significantly lower than the national average of 56 new infections per 100,000 people.
As schools return infections might increase again, experts are warning, but as more of the vulnerable sections are protected by vaccine hospital admissions and deaths might become the more important statistics.
At the moment there is good news on both fronts. Hospital admissions in the South East have fallen again and Covid-related deaths in Guildford remain very low.
