A man was robbed of £100 after he was threatened by two men as he walked in Stoke Fields, Guildford.
The 39-year-old victim was walking outside the Boileroom music venue at about 9am on Friday last week (April 27) when he saw the two suspects come out of a subway under York Road. He was asked for a light by one man, who then demanded money from him.
The local man asked what was meant by the demand. Following this, the second suspect put his hand into the victim’s pocket and said he would cut him.
As a result, the man handed over £100 in cash and the offenders made off along Stoke Fields.
Surrey Police, who are appealing for witnesses to the incident, report that the first suspect is described as being around 6ft 2in, 14 stone in weight, with brown eyes and light brown hair, which was shaved at the sides and longer on top, in the style of a short mullet cut. He wore a blue and white 1980s-style ski jacket, blue stonewashed jeans and white trainers. He spoke with what is described as being possibly a Polish accent.
The second suspect is described as being around 5ft 4in with a thick neck, pale skin, blue/green eyes and light eyebrows. He is described as having fair hair which was very closely shaven. He wore a red and white box jacket and dark blue jeans which had worn patches on the front.
Detective Constable Matt Evans, investigating, said: “The descriptions of these suspects are quite detailed and I am appealing for anyone who may have been walking in the area or driving in the vicinity to contact me if they have any information about the incident.
“The location can be quite busy at the time of day when the offence happened, with commuters and people taking children to school nearby. Please contact officers and pass on any details – they might be just what I need to help locate these suspects and bring them to justice.
“Surrey Police will not tolerate this offending on the streets of Guildford and works to maintain the town as a safe and pleasant environment.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference GD/12/3794. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
