Angela Gunning is one of the longest serving councillors at Guildford Borough Council. She first became a councillor in 1995 and rose to become the leader of the Labour group at Millmead.

    It’s possible that what counts most to many Tory voters in Guildford is the value of their house.

    If you speak to many prospective buyers from London (the traditional new buyers) they are getting less keen on Guildford because they see it as too “old-fashioned Conservative” whereas they tend to be young asset rich urban Labour voters with young children – chalk and cheese.

    I suspect most Guildford Conservative householders will actually be significantly richer if Guildford became a Labour Town.

    Worth mulling over.
