Dragon Interview: Jan Harwood on His Resignation from the Conservative Party

With all the political shenanigans over Boris Johnson’s resignation, one can be forgiven for forgetting we have a newsworthy resignation at Guildford Borough Council.

It might not have quite the same impact but it is very unusual; it is the second of two resignations by the same councillor in just over six months. Jan Harwood quit from the Lib Dems in November saying he had become disillusioned because of their lack of direction and organisation.

His surprising decision to join the Conservative group caught everyone by surprise and many wondered if it could last. They were right to wonder.

In this interview with Martin Giles, Cllr Harwood (Merrow), who now sits as an Independent at GBC, explains the reason for his latest resignation from the Tory group this week, his relationships with other councillors, his current political alignment and answers the question, will he stand again as a borough councillor next May?
