Professor Amelia Hadfield

Who better to speak to about the general election and the current political situation, nationally and locally, than a professor of politics at our Guildford-based University of Surrey?

Professor Amelia Hadfield co-chaired the university’s general election hustings last week and kindly agreed to our request for an interview with Martin Giles.

Born and brought up in New Brunswick, Canada, she joined the University of Surrey in January 2019 as Head of the Department of Politics, and Chair in European and International Affairs.

Her areas of expertise include Common Security and Defence Policy, EU-Russia Energy Relations, EU Neighbourhood Policy, EU relations with the US and Canada, Arctic & northern governance issues, and European energy governance.

Professor Hadfield is regularly called upon as a guest speaker and media pundit on areas of EU foreign affairs, and of late, EU-UK relations.
