Dragon Restaurant Review: A Warm Welcome at the Giggling Squid in Chapel Street

Giggling Squid, the award-winning Thai restaurant, has revealed two brand new tapas sets, as well as a whole new lunchtime tapas offering as part of a revamped lunchtime menu and set to tantalise tastebuds up and down the UK.

I was fortunate to be able to sample some of their offerings recently at their Guildford restaurant in Chapel Street.

From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with a warm welcome and promptly asked about our beverage preferences. The attentive and friendly staff made us feel right at home.

We indulged in a variety of mouthwatering starters, including the chicken satay spring rolls, crispy slow-cooked beef, and Giggling wings. Each dish was beautifully presented, demonstrating the chef’s attention to detail.

The flavours were exceptional – tasty, fresh, and perfectly spiced. It was evident that great care had been taken to create an impeccable fusion of Asian cuisine.

For our main courses, we opted for the marinated steak with sticky rice, and the crispy slow-cooked beef, and sticky chicken with egg fried rice.

The portion sizes were perfect, and every dish was seasoned to perfection. The choice of garnishing complemented the flavours wonderfully, resulting in a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.

However satisfying the two previous courses were, I could not resist ordering a melting heart chocolate dessert, which rounded off the meal perfectly with its indulgent sweetness.

Giggling Squid’s menu showcases an Asian infusion of flavours, with a delightful mix of tasty additions. The restaurant boasts a pleasant and unintrusive decor that adds to the inviting ambiance.

Throughout our meal, the service remained highly attentive, with staff checking on our satisfaction without being overly intrusive. Our water jug was regularly refilled without us even needing to ask, which further exemplified their dedication to excellent customer service.

Giggling Squid’s interior has a pleasant and unintrusive decor that adds to the inviting ambiance.

While we did notice a minor detail of a cobweb on the lampshade above our table, it didn’t overshadow the fantastic experience we had at Giggling Squid.

The overall atmosphere was vibrant, and the staff ensured that every detail was taken care of. It’s clear that their commitment to customer satisfaction is of paramount importance.

This meal surpassed our expectations in every aspect. From the warm welcome to the prompt service, delectable dishes, and fantastic atmosphere, this restaurant truly excels in delivering an unforgettable dining experience.

Despite the minor detail mentioned, our overall experience was nothing short of five-star worthy. I will definitely be returning to Giggling Squid for another memorable meal in the future.
