A Farnham man was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for burglaries in Ash and Eashing when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday (July 20).
Charlie Joe Walker, 25, of Roman Way, Farnham, pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary, including an incident at a house in Ash in March 2017 and a burglary at a house in Eashing, near Godalming, in April 2017.
Walker asked that 13 other burglaries, in Farnham, Woking and Farnborough, be taken into consideration.
Walker broke into the house in College Road, Ash around 3pm on March 13 2017. Key CCTV evidence was provided, showing Walker committing the burglary, and the vehicle used by Walker to escape. This vehicle was located a few days later in Roman Way, Farnham. Forensic evidence discovered in the same vehicle was found to connect to Walker.
On April 24 2017, around 1.30pm, a house was broken into in Lower Eashing Lane. Again, CCTV evidence showed Walker near the attacked home, and carrying stolen property from the house.
Detective Constable Richard Pegden, who led the investigation, said: “Walker was identified quickly on both occasions, but enquiries to trace him proved difficult. Thanks to some proactive enquiries by trained officers, Walker was finally traced to an address in Woking on May 24.”
DC Pegden added: “Walker had a complete disregard for the victims in this case, breaking into their homes and stealing sentimental items, and I am pleased that he has admitted his crimes to prevent further trauma for them.”
