Police were called to the A281 (Horsham Road) shortly after 9am on Monday, (November 18), following reports of a collision between a van and a motorcycle.
South East Coast Ambulance Service attended but sadly the rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van stopped at the scene and has been assisting police with enquiries.
The A281 was closed between the junctions of Station Road and Maiden Lane and re-opened around 3.45pm.
A police spokesperson said: “We thank the public for their patience whilst we dealt with our initial enquiries.
“We are now looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or have any dashcam, helmet or CCTV footage that may have captured all or part of this incident.
“Were you driving along Horsham Road between 8.50am and 9am on Monday morning? If you have any information that might assist our investigation, please get in touch quoting PR/45240132761 via:
