Surrey’s local infantry regiment, the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (PWRR), nicknamed “The Tigers”, took to the golf course in Clandon last week (April 28) for their 11th annual golf day.
40 golfers took part in the competition hosted by Clandon Regis Golf Club Competitors formed 10 teams: Surrey Fire and Rescue; Two teams from “Battle Back Golfers”; London Fire and Rescue; two teams from 2nd Battalion PWRR (now the new 2nd Battalion Rangers); Royal Anglian Regiment; 3rd Battalion PWRR; 4th Battalion PWRR and the PWRR Golf Society.
The Royal Anglian Regiment came out as winners and runners up were Battle Back 2. The Battle Back Centre runs courses for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel from all three services.
The Tigers Army Parachute Display Team was in attendance and gave a talk on skydiving. Unfortunately, a low cloud base prevented their planned free-fall jump onto the golf course.
The event was organised by a team led by Barbara Dienn and was attended by Cllr Tom Hunt the “Forces Champion” at Guildford Borough Council.
