Volunteers are required for the Friday Night Project for young people that takes place at Kings College, Park Barn, Guildford, run by Surrey Sports Park.
This will be on Friday evenings, starting from September, during school term times at the school’s well equipped Kings Community Sports Hub.
New volunteers will join a join a team of staff and current volunteers who rotate sessions based on availability. There’s no need to be available every week.
The role will be assisting with the delivery of sports and activities for young people. No experience necessary as training will be given. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
They key points for the volunteer helpers are to encourage children and young people to take part in activities and make new friends.
To engage and build relationships with the children / young people.
To look after the safety of children and young people while playing sports.
Help with games within the variety of sports.
Be a role model to the children and young people.
To engage with other activators to create a fun and safe environment to encourage children to participate in physical activity.
Be enthusiastic and approachable to help children and young people with their questions.
Surrey Sports Park is running the project in conjunction with Kings College at its Kings Community Sports Hub.
