The Guildford-based Matrix Trust celebrated its annual achievements by holding its largest fundraising event at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, in the company of the Mayor and Mayoress of Guildford.

Guests enjoyed a true celebration of young local talent, with live music from a quartet of young musicians from Guildford County School.

The Matrix Trust reports a most compelling testimonial from a young person whose wellbeing and social integration have developed through the charity’s mentoring, youth hubs and participation in the Matrix Young Leaders programme. The Year 10 pupil said: “I was alone but overcame some of my fears because I felt I belonged.”

The Mayor of Guildford, Richard Billington, commented on how Matrix has connected with the community. He said: “I was delighted to support the work of this charity that does so much to help young people. I have seen at first hand Matrix in action and was deeply impressed.”

Matrix is active in supporting some of the most vulnerable young people in Guildford through its youth work in local schools, impacting more than 2,000 young people, and leading community-led projects such as social action workshops thanks to its network of churches, schools and volunteers.

All proceeds from the evening, that took place on September 27, go towards funding its vital work.
