FurnitureLink logo rev 1You know it must be at the height of fashion when Channel 4’s Kirsty Allsopp says: “Old furniture is much better than new!”

We all know that she is right and that is where FurnitureLink comes in.

Newly located on the Merrow Business Park, FurnitureLink director Wendy Watson said: ““We are recycling at its best. We divert about 10 tons of furniture from landfill every month.”

All the furniture sold in the shop has been donated. FurnitureLink can collect the bulky items as well and offers small house clearances and house moves for a nominal charge.

For that, you need to contact Kenny Watson, the warehouse manager, to arrange a pick-up.

Having the same surname is not a coincidence. Wendy and Kenny met, fell in love and married after meeting in the Woking Community Furniture centre.

Recycling furniture is now definitely in the blood.

“I love the work,” said Kenny as he handled calls from customers and organised the enthusiastic volunteers who were refurbishing a small bedside cabinet and stacking furniture.

The 3,000 sq ft warehouse showroom is packed full of amazing furniture, white goods, electrical items, bric-a-brac, bikes and even donated quality paint at very low prices.

Wendy added: “Furniturelink is open to all. Our customers come from all over Guildford and beyond – families, individuals, dealers and even landlords who are looking to completely furnish a room or even an entire flat.

“It also gives families on low incomes the opportunity of owning a piece of quality furniture.”

Walking through the warehouse is a bit like visiting a flea market with individual rooms on the first floor set out with beds, tables and lamps and areas that you just have to go into to inspect.

Wendy said: “Buying reusable furniture is a great way to give your house an affordable makeover and be good to the environment as well.

“You can take on that inexpensive piece of furniture for that shabby chic painting project that you always wanted to try.”
