Council officials were unable to explain today (May 5) how information regarding new Executive appointments at Guildford Borough Council was leaked to Eagle Radio and the Surrey Advertiser.
Even opposition councillors were unaware of the news this morning.
Millmead sources were quick to say that it was not council officers who had passed information. Normally the announcement is made at a council meeting, followed by an official press release.
Eagle Radio reported the following appointments yesterday evening. The Surrey Advertiser confirmed they had been given the same information.
Paul Spooner – council leader and planning and regeneration
Matt Furniss – council deputy leader and infrastructure and governance
Michael Illman – finance
Geoff Davis – asset management
David Bilbé – economic development
Tony Rooth – housing and social welfare
Richard Billington – rural economy, countryside, parks and leisure
Iseult Roche – community, health and sport
Graham Ellwood – licensing and community safety
Nikki Nelson-Smith – internal business systems, heritage and the arts
There has still been no official notification from the council.
