A fun day with the focus on encouraging people to get active while promoting general wellbeing is being held at Tongham Community Centre on Sunday, May 22.
Called Let’s Get Moving, it has been organised by Guildford Borough Council’s Ash and Tongham community wardens team, and promises to be a great way for people to learn about local opportunities available to maintain physical and mental health.
Lesley, Jo and Richard of the community wardens team have gathered together 60 local groups and organisations who will showcase a variety of activities for mind and body.
A range of fun activities for all ages will be available to try – including tennis, yoga, zumba, as well as exercise opportunities specifically for older people.
Meet members of a local gardening club and the area’s community street team, and learn about the Tongham Wood Improvement Group. You can also try your hand at flower arranging.
Voluntary Action South West Surrey will be giving details of the wide range of volunterring opportunities available, and local charities including the British Heart foundation, Age UK and Alzheimer’s Society will be also be offering information and advice.
There will be a free prize draw, and among the prizes donated will be free swims at Aldershot Lido, free climbing at the Surrey Sports Park, one month’s free membership to Ash Manor Sports Centre, and donutting at Alpine Snowsports.
Let’s get Moving is from 1pm to 5pm at Tongham Community Centre, Poyle Road GU10 1 DU.
