Ginger the cat, stolen by two young men on Woodbridge Hill on Saturday, November 5, has not been found, and a clue that he may have been taken on to bus is now thought to be unlikely.

The pair carried the cat up Aldershot Road to the parade of shops near the junction with Southway.

Do you know the whereabouts of Ginger the cat?

After the pair loitered outside Lloyds’ chemists (waving to staff through the window) it was reported that they boarded a Kite bus heading in the direction of Ash and Aldershot.

However, Stagecoach bus firm has now told Ginger’s owners Mike and Penny Ellis that CCTV footage recorded on its buses at that stop during that time does not show anyone boarding a bus with a cat.

Mike and Penny have spent the last two weeks searching for their much-loved pet. They have spoken to managers of the shops where the thieves were seen (both on Woodbridge Hill and Aldershot Road, including the petrol station) to see if their CCTV cameras have picked anything up.

The appeal for Ginger’s whereabouts has been widely circulated on local social media and a number of people have responded.

This includes photos taken by a jogger in Aldershot Road who passed the thieves. This is one of the photos which unfortunately only shows the backs of the two men.

Mike has been told that at least one of the men is Asian and is known locally at one of the shops.

Details can also be reported to the police by calling 101.

I really hope they find this poor cat, and the same with the culprits. How cruel.
