Rockin’ girl power comes to the Electric Theatre in Guildford on Saturday, October 6 with duo Never The Bride and special guest Gemma Dorsett.

Never The Bride (left) and Gemma Dorsett are at Guildford’s Electric Theatre on Saturday, October 6.

Born and raised in Surrey, Gemma Dorsett began her musical journey singing in a church choir as a child. This early love affair with singing developed into playing solo acoustic sets with songs by her greatest influences at the time (and still today) – Bette Midler, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Karen Carpenter, to name just a few.

Later, Gemma discovered a passion for new country music. Her version of Wynonna Judd’s song Why Not Me was released in the European Hot Disc Chart Top 40 in 2002, leading to her recording an album in Nashville in 2003, where she worked with some of the music city’s finest musicians.

She has spent the past 15 years developing her voice across rock, blues and soul, finding influence in gut-punching artists such as Melissa Etheridge and Joe Cocker. She currently leads blues/rock band Eleven:11, who play the music of Joe Bonamassa, Etta James, King King, Susan Tedeschi and more.

Heading the bill at the Electric Theatre will be Never The Bride. With eight albums under the belt, they are at the very heart of the London rock ‘n’ roll scene.

They have played venues ranging from The Royal Albert Hall (on multiple occasions, including with Elton John), touring the UK and Australia with The British Symphony Rock orchestra alongside Roger Daltrey and Paul Rogers, Wembley Arena supporting the Who, Glastonbury Festival with Dame Shirley Bassey, plus various concerts with Eric Clapton.

Book tickets from the Electric Theatre box office on 01483 501200, or click here for the gig listing on its website.
