Local historian David Rose is once again leading a series of free guided wellbeing walks from The Hive community centre in Park Barn, Guildford.

They are easy and accessible walks with the next one taking place on Monday, July 3.

The walks are being hosted by the mental health support charity Catalyst, as part of its project called The Hope Project, and are suitable for people with mild to moderate mental health challenges.

The walks last approximately 60 minutes or so, starting at 11am, and walkers can even bring well behaved dogs, on a lead!

To attend, you need to book you place. Send an email to groups.cc@catalystsupport.org.uk

Or phone on 01276 409415, please leave a message if need be and your call will be returned.

You can also register on Catalyst’s Wellbeing Groups’ page on its website. Click here.

David, who is leading the walks and combining it with his work at Voluntary Action South West Surrey, said: “These walks I led back in the spring proved popular, therefore they are now continuing on the first Monday of the month.

“From The Hive, on Park Barn Drive GU2 8EN, off the roundabout near Kings College, there are plenty of routes for short walks. It’s easy to reach some green spaces such as Broadstreet Common, the woodland off Southway, the University of Surrey’s Manor Farm campus, and the locally known ‘reservoir hill’ at the top of Westborough.

“This Monday’s walk will take in the ‘reservoir hill’ where there are some great views over Guildford and even the London skyline can be glimpsed on clear days.

“I will of course add some local history details, while the walks are great for people to meet up and chat and have an enjoyable time, plus there’s a great cafe at The Hive for a cuppa and perhaps a cake, before or after the walk.”

It’s suggested you wear stout footwear and bring a drink, especially in warm weather.
