Last weekend saw the Veterans English Table Tennis Society hold its Annual Southern Masters Tournament in Guildford.

The amount of entries was almost at record levels and included were a good number of Guildford Table Tennis Association players.

There were some great victories by local players, in particular, John Robinson, Richard Seymour and Phil Harrison. But the star of the weekend was Burymead’s Phil Snelson.

Phil was in top form as he took on and beat four seeds in his run to the semi final of the Over 50s competition. There he met the No 1 seed Andy Trott and lost a hard fought battle in five sets.
