Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy are among those to benefit. “The grant means we can continue to send Street Angels onto the streets,” says a statement
Eight charities based in Surrey have received a funding boost in the first half of 2026, thanks to support from the Benefact Group Movement for Good Awards.
The recipients include Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy, whose work with the Street Angels is an important part of the town’s community work.
Street Angels are a team of volunteers that patrol Guildford town centre on Friday and Saturday nights, providing practical care and support to anyone who has found themselves in a vulnerable state. This could be a result of alcohol, drugs, homelessness, assault, or other causes.
Their fundraiser Jules Hall said: “We are so grateful for this grant from the Benefact Group. It means we can continue to send Street Angels onto the streets, place Community Angels with people who need a friend and provide Volunteer Chaplains to lend a listening ear in the workplace.
“As one of our supporters said recently: ‘I just wanted to send you guys a message to say a massive thank-you for everything you do. You are all amazing and I can’t ever thank you guys enough for all the positivity you bring to Guildford, making sure everybody is looked after.’”
The other charities to benefit include: Citizen’s Advice Woking; Refugee and Migrant Network Sutton; The Cancer Club based in Walton-On-Thames; Nystagmus Network based in Kingston Upon Thames; and Dogs Walk This Way Rescue based in Bagshot. Each received a donation of £1,000 through the programme,
Growing Hope Farnham and Midasplus based in Staines were both awarded £5,000 through the special draws.
Now in its eighth year, Benefact Group Movement for Good is giving away more than £1 million to charities in 2026. Once again, members of the public were invited to nominate causes close to their hearts, with more than 10,500 Surrey residents taking the time to put charities forward.
More charities chosen for support will be revealed later in the year, and Surrey residents are encouraged to keep nominating by visiting https://movementforgood.com/.
Mark Hews, Group Chief Executive at Benefact Group, said:“ We are hugely grateful that people continue to take the time to nominate good causes to receive a donation through Benefact Group Movement for Good. We understand the difference that £1,000 can make in helping charities continue their vital work, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact these donations will have on communities in the future.
“As an organisation owned by a charity, we donate all available profits to good causes, meaning the more our group grows, the more we can give. Charitable giving is at the heart of everything we do, and we are delighted to donate more than £1 million each year to charities through this programme.
“We are hugely grateful for our supporters, including customers of trusted insurer Ecclesiastical and responsible investment manager EdenTree, who all play a role in making this possible.”
Having recently celebrated reaching the landmark amount of £250 million given in donations since 2014, Benefact Group is recognised as the third largest corporate giver in the UK over a decade.
