The Guildford United Reformed Church Music Society was founded some 25 years ago to encourage the love of serious music especially among young people.

It has an exciting future programme and with a one of the finest church organs in the south of England and a fully restored c,1892 Bechstein concert grand piano, you must question why you would travel to London when this quality of music can be found so close to home?

GURC Music Society is proud to present the trio Intriplicate at its next event on Friday, October 20 at 7:30pm.

The flute, oboe and piano trio was formed in Manchester in 2001 and performs regularly across the UK. In 2004 the trio recorded their debut CD Iintriplicate. The follow-up CD Intriplicate too, recorded in 2007, received a five-star review in the Manchester Evening News:

Intiplicate

Intiplicate with Claire Fillhart – Flute, Sally Richardson – oboe and Claire Dunham – piano.

‘There are few CDs out of those I hear in a year that I’d gladly hear again, for the sheer pleasure of doing so. This is one. The quality of the musicianship they offer is remarkable’ – Robert Beale.

All of the GURC Music Society concerts are held in the church at 83 Portsmouth Road.

Probably no other local venue provides such recitals on a regular basis throughout the year and at such a very reasonable price. It is a venue where you get really close to the artists in a way that is impossible at larger events. You can also add excellent acoustics, a warm and relaxed atmosphere and free parking for unbeatable value.

They aim to provide live music in different genres performed by highly gifted professional artistes, many of whom have international recognition. Artists include Michala Petri, Crispian Steel-Perkins, Nigel Ogden, Alexandra Dariescu and Will Todd and O Duo. They also encourage the many talented young musicians of today.

Tickets for Intriplicate are £15 (concessions apply). Children 16 and under are admitted free with an accompanying adult.

Tickets can be obtained from the Guildford Tourist Centre, Guildford House, 155 High Street, GU1 3AJ (Tel: 01483 444 333), or online, or at the door.

The Guildford United Reformed Church is located at 83 Portsmouth Road, Guildford, Surrey GU2 4BS.
