Hit Film Barbie to Be Shown at Guildford Cathedral

The hit film Barbie is to be shown as an open-air cinema event at Guildford Cathedral.

The cathedral is included in a list of four venues. Others are: Ascot Racecourse, Cardiff Castle and Wollaton Hall, Nottinghamshire.

The film is the biggest box office hit of 2023 and as of yesterday had grossed almost £1 billion worldwide, the first film by a solo female director to do so.

The event is being run by The Luna Cinema who say they have welcomed over a million visitors since opening in 2008. Those attending can take along their own picnic blanket or take one of the Luna Cinema’s directors’ chairs.

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, says: “Since 2008, we’ve had over a million visitors attend our screenings with The Luna Cinema serving as the best example of open-air cinema in the UK.

“With this in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Barbie will be joining our 2023 programme, which is already comprised of world-class venues and a fun-filled lineup of films.”
