If you’re feeling blue about the onset of cold mornings and dark evenings how about Latin dance classes to warm things up? This is what is on offer every week at the Bar Des Arts  starting soon.

Sara Burks, Co-owner of Bar des Arts, opposite the Yvone Arnaud Theatre in Millbrook said: “The dance classes that have previously taken place at the bar have proved extremely popular. It is a great opportunity for people to get together and socialise as well as learn a new skill.

“Gio Papas, who runs the classes, is an excellent teacher and everybody really enjoys themselves during the evening. People should arrive at the bar from 7.45pm every Monday ready for the Bachata fun dance class at 8pm until 9pm.

“Between 9pm and 10pm starting on October 15th there will be Kizomba dancing and from 10pm until midnight people can enjoy freestyle dancing.”

Everyone gets involved with all the dances

During the classes people will also be able to learn Zouk dancing, a sensual two person dance with its roots originating from the French Caribbean and Bachata, a rhythmic free style dance.

Gio, who runs the dance company Latin Salsa and has taught for more than 10 years, said: “I am really enjoying teaching the weekly dance classes at Bar des Arts. They are great fun and everyone gets involved with all of the dances.”

Sara added: “Tickets cost £8 and can be purchased by calling the bar on 01483 453227 or can be paid for on the evening. Gio will also turn DJ at the end of the night and play some of his favourite tracks.”
