In response to: We Conservatives Await the Result of the Further Consultation on the Local Plan With Interest
Like Cllr Spooner I look forward to the consultation on Part 2 of the Local Plan.
I think it is important for planning policy to prioritise the use of all available brownfield land before any development on our green fields is considered.
Some councillors will be aware that my father has recently been in discussions with the GBC planning department about what should become of his brownfield site at Stoney Castle, Pirbright.
I would like to thank Cllr Spooner who last week emailed County Cllr Natalie Bramhall (Con, Redhill West & Meadvale) to support one of the proposed suitable uses for the land as a GRT [Gypsy, Romany and Traveller] transit site. He said: “I believe that there should be a transit camp in West Surrey and the opportunity in Pirbright should be explored,”
My father is very keen that any development of the site is understood to be something that is desperately needed in Guildford rather than just more houses that nobody wants.
There aren’t many brownfield sites in Guildford so we should insist each one brings something that we need.

I understand that a site in West Surrey has been identified by Surrey County Council and it is not in Guildford Borough.
A solution to enable effective police enforcement action against Traveller incursions in Surrey is long overdue.
