It is indeed a great shame that Bibhas Neogi has decided to stop writing on local transport issues.

He has had the courage to speak truth to power.

“What is truth?” asked Pilate and would not wait for an answer, wrote Sir Francis Bacon in his essay Of Truth.

There are two versions:

The first is whatever will help a politician get elected – gobbledegook like “modal shift”.

The second is what corresponds with the objective facts – like real vehicle counts/flows, road capacity and traffic analysis.

Mr Neogi has dealt in objective facts and rational analysis.

It is a serious indictment of the elected councillors and full-time officials that they have all looked the other way.
