Letter: What Should A Guildford Electric Bike Scheme Be Called?

In response to the article: Electric Bikes – Are They Part of the Answer to Guildford’s Traffic Problems?

I like the idea of electric bikes for the younger and fitter people of Guildford. However, the more mature of the borough would, I believe, still have a problem cycling.

But I would be happy to see the roads with less cars and lorries, if at all possible.

Is this is the solution? I assume they would be at the current Park and Ride sites so that those of us who live a few miles from the town centre could use them to get in to the town?

I can see it is worth exploring.

I wonder what they would be called in Guildford? London has Boris Bikes. Any ideas?

Love it!

With Guildford’s connections to Alice in Wonderland, “Alice’s Bikes” has also been suggested. A bit more romantic than Ogle’s Wobbles I think.

Just to say that while there will be some more mature people who will struggle if they have mobility and balance issues, we have sold quite a few bikes to people in their 80s and plenty to people over 3 score and 10.

I have just noticed that the Liverpool City Bike scheme is a part of Hourbike Ltd from Bisley.
