Letter: I Do Hope Sense Will Prevail Over Blocked Path

In response to: Village Association Chair Pleads His Case to Keep Path Open

The walk along this field boundary has for years been one of the delights for me and members of our family.

Walking this path affords some of the most attractive views in Surrey, beautiful countryside, amazing skyscapes and all aspects of nature. Whilst recognising and understanding the farmer’s concerns for the edge of his crops I believe a balance must be able to be found with a narrower path and a fence to prevent walkers straying onto the crops.

I am saddened to see that in attempting to create barriers to stop walkers’ access to this field the farmer has quite brutally attacked the existing trees and shrubs including felling quite a few trees. It is a great pity that what we now have to look at instead of stunning views are unsightly piles of felled trees and pulled up hedges.

I do hope that sense will prevail and the farmer and the Loseley Estate will reconsider their hostile approach to the use by those in the local communities, of a strip of land that provides so much pleasure and delight.
