Maddie Evans, a vociferous parish councillor from Shalford, Surrey, has once more written to Welsh newspapers demanding even more wind turbines across Wales.
It should be understood that Wales generates a reliable 2,200 megawatts from Pembroke CCGT gas-fired power station alone, whilst Welsh total usage, three years ago, was only 1,598 megawatts, on average, according to Welsh Government data.
Since Pembroke is in our far west, it follows that every one of the solar panel fields and hundreds of wind turbine “farms” across Wales is already powering England’s massive 58 million population, not the modest three million in Wales.
Now, due to the illogical, madcap policies of Ed Miliband, Wales is being threatened by a further 1,000 gargantuan wind turbines averaging 750 feet in height. These will almost be double the height and width of the single token 400ft machine seen from the M4 at Reading.
If Cllr Evans and Mr Miliband want wind turbines to power England, then put them in England please. Don’t dump them on Wales; we don’t want or need them!
Besides, a perusal of the yo-yo 2024 UK Wind Energy graph on Gridwatch.co.uk , proves, beyond doubt, that wind energy can never, ever power the UK. The graph resembles stalagmites. Where are the UK’s scientists and engineers?
Wind turbines are clearly as useful as igloos on the Equator. If Maddie Evans wants them, then put a dozen 820 ft ones around Shalford in Surrey.

How about a small modular nuclear reactor somewhere near Guildford instead? Just a few acres required.
