Letter: Stop the One-upmanship and Deliver for Guildford

In response to: Criticism of the Tories’ Record – Is That It?

This is the latest in a series of childish letters back and forth between different factions and I would ask both sides to put a stop to the one-upmanship and just get on with delivering for the residents of Guildford.

The Conservatives need to recognise that they lost the last election based on their record in power over a number of years and to regain any sort of trust they need to be a constructive opposition rather than criticising anything that the R4GV/Lib Dem leadership does and complaining that they get no credit for their good ideas when they only accept a small amount of the blame for the “pop-up village”.

R4GV and the Lib Dems should seize the time that they have before the next election and take some bold decisions rather than endless consultations where the same voices make the same points. Yes, the first part of their term has been dominated by Covid but as we come out of the pandemic (hopefully) it is time to get moving and give the opposition something concrete to criticise.
