From Eric James, Guildford Lions Club
Firstly, many many thanks for The Guildford Dragon NEWS’ support in getting the cancellation message out to the public to avoid them having a wasted trip – it certainly was a clear demonstration of the power of local media.
We have received many messages of support from both organisations and the public which has raised our spirits during a difficult period.
Contact with the various traders, etc, who were scheduled to appear on the day continues and once again we have been extremely heartened by the responses we have received with many accepting a postponement until next year.
It is clear we will incur a significant financial loss, but would like to record our grateful thanks to the following businesses who have so far generously agreed to either waive or significantly reduce monies which were due to be refunded to them as a result of the cancellation:
Think Ford – a sponsor of the event.
Goodbox Ltd – contactless giving facility.
Stunt Riders Live – main arena attraction.
Topgearsound – PA and sound system.
Oak Barn Vets who had to completely reorganise their schedule – fun dog show.
Regrettably, it has not proved possible to reorganise the day for the May bank holiday as many of the traders and arena acts are unavailable.
Again, many thanks for your invaluable support during a difficult time for the club.

I hope that Guildford Borough Council cancelled all charges for the use of Shalford Park by a charity organisation.
