From: Jeremy Bridger
Son of the late Gordon Bridger, Hon Alderman and former Mayor of Guildford
In response to: Guildford Mourns Gordon Bridger, the Former Mayor Who Loved His Town
Gordon Bridger was the best father in the world. The last Guildford cause he was involved in, before he passed away, was Burchatts Farm Barn in Stoke Park.
A fitting tribute to him would be for it to be renamed by the council as the Gordon Bridger Centre. People could then always remember what he achieved by putting Guildford on the map.
Can someone suggest this to Guildford Borough Council please?

That would be a great tribute to Jeremy Bridger’s father.

What an excellent idea to have a “Gordon Bridger Centre”.
GBC please listen and act accordingly.

Forgive me, but I disagree. Perhaps a new street, or building could be named after him, but to rename the barn after Mr Bridger would lose the historic link to Burchatt’s Farm, which encompassed the site, the farmhouse of which stands alongside the barn.
We must be careful not to wash away old history in favour of new.

Let’s just rename the council after this great man, The Bridger Borough Council, BBC. It would serve to remind those who work and represent us there that they work for us residents.
