We certainly need some imaginative thinking to cure Guildford’s traffic congestion but I’m not sure the Walnut Tree Close scheme really works.

Just as we have a joined-up road system for motor vehicles we need something similar for bicycles.

The current bitty, disconnected cycle path network is not well marked or maintained and does little to encourage cycling as a routine alternative to motoring. Can we not take some lessons from European town planners who manage to integrate transport so much better?
